Evolution means natural change over time. Natural selection means that we humans do not make the environment change. Just let nature take its' course. For millions of years, changes were made naturally that benefited the organism. The genes that it had were passed on. Other organisms were not as fit and their genes died with them.

But we have made changes by inferring; this includes having milk cows that produce more and more milk over the generations. Wild cattle do not have the large udders that dairy cows do. Even pulling weeds makes "unnatural" changes. There are many more examples.

Natural selection means that the individuals with better specs for survival have higher chances of reproducing, while other individuals with lower specs will probably get no offspring. With the passage of time, the population with the "better specs" will rise in comparison with those with "lower specs," the new generations will be mostly born with these characteristics better adapted to survival, and in time, those who aren't adapted as well will die out, as such, the population will eventually be filled with only individuals with this superior trait. When need arises, some of these individuals will present a new adaptative trait that gives them a better survival rate and, once again, natural selection will make it so that the whole population gets the trait. This is what we call evolution

Is natural selection a process or a result of a process?

Natural selection is only the result of changing environments, mutation and the variation resulting therein. Natural selection is the process of adaptive change and the main mechanism of evolution that leads to speciation. Natural selection is a process as mutation and variation are grist to the mill of natural selection.

What did darwin call the process by which evolution takes place?

The book, On The Origin Of Species, " suggested " that organisms evolve through the process of natural selection. The nonrandom survival and reproductive success of randomly varying organisms

What are the phases of Natural Selection?

The four stages are: Overproduction, Genetic Variation, Struggle to Survive, and Successful Reproduction

What is the process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment survive and reproduce more successfully?

Natural Selection is a process which individuals are better adapted to their enviorment are more likely to survive and reproduce. Say there are turtles barely hatching and there are hungry seagul waiting to be fed, the fastest ones will make it to the water safely while the slow ones are being eaten. so eventually all the turtles in the sea will become faster to get away from predators. hopefully that answered your question.

What is selection in science?

Selection is the process throughout evolution that results in a species existing in a current ecosystem at a given time. This is known as natural selection.

How long does the process of natural selection and evolution take?

Evolution is a continuous, non-cyclical process that happens as long as there is life.

What is a sub-process of natural selection?

Natural selection has no "sub-processes". It is a continuous process that happens under particular circumstances. The process of speciation is a related process, by which genetically distinct populations evolve from a common ancestor.
