The Fans consider Black Butler Season 2 to be more of an 'alternate universe' than anything. *spoiler alert* Ciel becomes a demon at the end of season 2, which isn't the case in the Manga. In the Manga he is still alive, and still human. Season 3 Book of Circus, and the two part OVA Book of Murder both pick up in different areas from what is happening in the Manga. So, in short, after season 2, Ciel joins the circus!

The ending is rather surprising...

How was Ciel Phantomhives soul stolen?
Ciel and Sebastian were under contact to one another, but during the end battle of Season 1 Sebastian's arm containing the seal was torn off. Season 1 ends with us assuming that Sebastian devours Ciel's soul. However it is later discovered in Season 2 that because the arm containing Sebastian's half of the seal was removed, this voided their contact. Another demon named Claude was able to move in and take Ciel's soul before Sebastian could consume it.

what happened in the end of black butler season 1?
If anyone tells you, it'd be a spoiler. Plus you can watch it for yourself online. But, if you really want to know, Sebastian takes Ciel to some ruins and takes his soul.... gruesome, right? But if you want to know what happens in season two Hannah (a demon)decides to make a contract with Ciel when Earl Alois takes over his body when they share it. But when Earl made a contract he said that Ciel will have his body back when Earl's contract is complete. Earls contract says that when Ciel gets his body back he will turn into a demon himself. Meanwhile Sebastion promises to be his butler until the end not knowing that he meant forever forever. Earl's contract gets fufilled and ciel falls into the water and sebastion leaping after him. He gets him and just when he does he awakens and sebastion tried to kill him by slashing through his stomach, but it was too late. Sebastion is now Ciel's butler for eternity. The next scene is when Ciel wakes up just like any other day and gets dressed in dark clothes and invites Elizebeth over for a last dance. Ciel then leaves the property to the servents and goes off with Sebastian in a carraidge. They head to a field and that's where it ends when they explain what happened and why Sebastion is still with Ciel and why ciel is not dead. Overall, in a faster way to explain it without the details, Ciel's memory is erased because the arm with Sebastion's ''mark'' got cut off and the contract was released and Ciel's memory is dulled, or gone. Is kuroshitsuji season 2 based on alois and claude or sebastion and ciel?
It is based on both of these people, but it isn't quite clear if Ciel has come back from the dead or not, I cant seem to understand if he is back and has forgotten everything, or if these are episodes from back when Ciel was alive.
Is ciel in kuroshitsuji 2?
Yes he is in season 2, he may not in the beginning of episode one, but he dose appear. Don't let Alois and Claude fool you thinking they took over, Ciel is still a big part in the anime.
