During meiosis 1 the chromosomes undergo the same stage as mitosis but it just doesn't stop there. They watch TV!!! Just kidding. They are the same as before, while in mitosis they're split in half.

During meiosis I, the chromosome number is halved. This is because in early meiosis I the chromosomes pair, then they separate during anaphase I.

As a result, each daughter-cell has only half the number of chromosomes that the parent cell had.

When a cell undergoes meiosis the chromosomes split with the cell through the differet phases they split in half and separate they then replicate their other half so they become whole again.
