it is the plates scraping in a result of built up pressure... if you shake a coke bottle it will explode with built up pressure. take two puzzle pieces and slide them past...the same thing happens with these plates.
minor earthquakes and tremors, like what's happening in California at the moment. the pacific and American plates are moving along next to each other - but the America one is tilted slightly inward and the pacific plate is moving faster. not an ideal example, but one of the closest we have!
They can cause an earth quake if they just grind. If they ram into each other, it could cause mountain ranges, volcanic eruptions, or deep trenches/ valleys.
really nothing actually. It all depends on what it is made of.
Transform boundary is when the plates are sliding past each other: ↑ ↓; Divergent is when plates are sliding away from each other: ← →; and convergent is when plates are sliding towards each other: → ←. Those are the three main plate boundaries.

Many strong earthquakes are caused by plates sliding apart.

Transform faults are caused by plates sliding past each other.
lithospheric plates slide scrape against each other during an earthquake which is the cause of one.

A Transform boundary consists of plates that slide past each other in opposite directions. The earth is made of lots of different sliding plates.
