AUG is the only codon which codes for methionine and UGG is the only amino acid that codes for Tryptophan. These are the only codons which have only one codon to represent their specific amino acid.

When the mRNA is used by ribosome, ribosome requires the AUG codon to find where to start the synthesis of the protein. After "initiation", the ribosome will slide to the first AUG and there it will start the synthesis.
