The refraction of light means that although light travels in straight lines, when it moves from one substance into another, it can change direction. This happens because the wave changes speed as it travels between different types of materials. As a light wave travelsbetween diffrent clear substances, the light wave bends. When light passes one substance to another, the light changes direction.

Refraction occurs when light passes from one material to another, where it travels faster through one material than through the other. For instance, when it passes through water or glass, it slows down. If it passes through at an angle, then that angle is increased or decreased depending on the circumstances. Also, the different frequencies of light (colors) can be separated out, making a rainbow effect.

It is that if angle of incidence is gradually increased, the angle of reflection, r will also gradually increase and at a certain stage r becomes 90 degree. Now the refracted ray is bent so much away from the normal and it grazes the surface of separation of two media. The angle of incidence in the denser medium at which the refracted ray just grazes the surface of separation is called the critical angle of the dencer medium.

No. As long as light of any color remains in the same medium, its wavelength is constant. When it passes to a different medium, its frequency remains constant but its speed changes, producing a change in wavelength.

When light is refracted, it changes direction as well as its velocity. However, it doesn’t change its wavelength and frequency

not all of the waves are reflected. This is how it goes,if sound waves hit a smooth, hard surface. Some of the sounds are reflected.the sound that bounce back is called an echo

What is a direct wave?

A direct wave is a radio wave that travels directly through space without getting refracted by the ionosphere. In other words, it travels straight to the receiving antenna without being refracted.

Why do refracted objects bend?

The light acts as a wave, and the wave accelerates differentially at the border.

How is sound refracted?

Sound is a wave (of energy) in a medium [solid, liquid, or gas] (a compression wave in fact), therefore it is refracted by any change in the medium AND by the fact that it is never coherent (it never travels in only a straight line).
