When a timing belt breaks, it may damage your valves or pistons, due to piston and valve contacted. The best way to confirm damage, is to replace with timing belt, reset the engine and perform a compression check, typical psi should be around 170-200 psi on each cylinder.
Because the Accord 1991 has an interference engine, the pistons will hit the valves and either bend them or break them or both if the timing belt breaks.
If your timing belt were to break while the engine is operating, the camshafts would be out of time with the crankshaft. This 'out of time' would cause the valves to open at incorrect times in regard to the crankshaft/pistons. This break in the timing belt could cause valves to bend or break as well as damage the head itself; pistons could also become damaged in the process.
if the timing belt breaks then yes it will throw the timing off.
From what I read it has a timing chain, not a timing belt. I asked the dealer about scheduled maintenance, and changing the timing belt was never mentioned.
It does not have a timing belt. It has a chain and gears. If timing chain goes out then the engine will not run.
It does not have a belt, it has a chain.
Age or damage from a failed pulley.
What would cause the timing belt to break twice in 1 month on a 2000 Kia Sportage?
The timing belt goes and the valves bend.
Will anything happen to the motor if timing belt breaks on a 2001 ford ranger
There is no timing belt. It is a timing chain. I have 130,000 miles and have not had any trouble. It will start making noise when it is time. Unlike timing belts which will break, timing chains wear out slowly.
timing belt, if it needs it change it because these engines eat them selves if they break.
