Salt water will in fact kill a rose bush because it depletes nutrients from the rose bush. Epson salt however is good for rose bushes when added to water because it will increase chlorophyll production.

∙ 14y agoSince salt water is hypertonic to the plant cell, the water would move into the hypertonic solution (extracellular) and out of the hypotonic plant cell. The cells would lose water and it would die.
