Kelly Miller (1863-1939) was known as a prominent African-American intellectual, mathematician, sociologist, essayist, and civil rights leader. He is known for his work on race relations and education, as well as his writings on racial equality and social justice. Miller was one of the first African Americans to attend Johns Hopkins University and he served as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Howard University.
