actually john rolfe introduced the American crop tobacco to the colony. This crop did save Jamestown.

Also, they offered 50 acres of land to any man, woman, or child who could pay their way to Jamestown, which lead to a higher population.

that is true but they where the first colony were everyone didnt die.

In 1692, a settler named John Rolfe began growing a new type of tobacco using seed from West Indies then smoking soon became popular in England, and the Jamestown colonists found that they could sell as much Tabasco a s could be produced. So that's how Jamestown Colony became successful.
