The only holiday that Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate is the Memorial of Christ's Death, which falls on March 22, 2008, after sundown, to commemorate Jesus Christ's Last Supper. This is the only "holy day"Jesus told His followers to 'celebrate'. In fact, Jesus said: "Do this as a memorial of me." (1 Corinthians 11:24, The Jerusalem Bible), or in the New World Translation, Jesus said at 1Corinthians 11:24: 'and, after giving thanks, he broke it and said: "This means my body which is in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me." This was a command from Jesus; he didn't say to celebrate his resurrection. So, on the other holidays, we will be happy for you to come with us from door to door or anywhere that we can find persons with Bible questions, or questions about this decaying system of things, because we will continue looking for persons who want know and to do God's will and want His Kingdom to rule over the Earth for the benefit of mankind. EDIT: a lot depends on the holiday and what you are going to do. for example, my country has two days placed for carnival. and the congregation usually will keep a sports day on the Tuesday of the carnival. Divali is also a public holiday in my country, and the entire congregation went to a ranch. tomorrow, boxing day, my family and i were invited by relatives for a BBQ. These activities do not have any religious ties to them, even though they fell on days in which holidays were placed. so you can invite them over for dinner, watch a movie, go for a walk in a park. simple things such as that.

It is just a normal day to them, they just don't celebrate it.

ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES...

As said above it is just another normal day for us, we do nothing special on that day.

As a congregation or a small to medium group we might get together and go out for the day, might go do a dry slope to ski, go Ice skating or just enjoy the company of each other for some spiritual uplifting time.

Each person and congregation is different but it is just another normal day to us.

We enjoy going out in our house-to-house ministry that day. People are usually much more friendly than on other days during the year. We don't get chased away. Most people are home and friendly. One year we offered people our Awake article entitled: Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrate Christmas? Most people were curious and took it.

Then in the afternoon we might have some friends over for dinner and play some 'Catch-Phrase'.

As Witnesses we enjoy our annual holidays from employment.

10,857 anointed Witnesses celebrate the Lord's Evening, while the rest of the approximately 7 million Witnesses observe the celebration.

Apart from that we do not celebrate any other holidays although we do of course enjoy the time off from work if these worldly holidays give us time to spend with our families and fellow Witnesses.

ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES...

We actually have MANY religious activities that keep us quite busy.

1) Each family has a 'family worship night'. This is their own individual religious activity as Jehovah's Witnesses. They create their own family program depending on the ages and needs of the family members.

2) Our two regular weekly meetings are also important activities. Most members are enrolled in a 'public speaking class'. They are assigns topic; they prepare their own presentation, perhaps a skit; then are given constructive counsel. Even children are included in this program.

3) Jehovah's Witnesses also engage in 'shepherding' our own flock, by house visits on them. They can request some more personized help. Many members come from other religions; and it takes a little longer to abandon unhealthy traits, or aspects of their personality. There is a lot of 'undoing' to do.

4) Our main religious activity is our Christian Ministry (door-step ministry). All members, even children are trained for this most important religious activity. We do this because it is a commandment, the Great Commission that was put into action just before Jesus was killed, This can be found at Matthew 24:14 and 28:18-20.

5) We travel to assemblies and conventions 3 times a year. This is an intensive 2 or 3-day; full-day of class instruction.

6) Many are involved in 'acts of kindness and helpfulness'; such as helping the infirm and elderly. Perhaps reading together with them; preparing meals; helping them in their door-step ministry also. (Even our wheelchair people engage in this ministry - - at a much different pace, of course.)

7) We also observe The Memorial of Christ's Death once a year, also know as The celebration of the last supper.

Generally they will just have the day off and relax at home.

Witnesses used to go door to door preaching on Christmas morning because they all had the day off work and nearly all householders were home. However there was dwindling support for this arrangement and so they no longer do so in my locale. If Christmas falls on a Sunday like this year 2011 then they will still attend the local Kingdom Hall for the regular meeting and should then go out door to door preaching after.

There are no 'official' Jehovah's Witness holidays but they take annual leave holidays and have time off at Christmas, New Year, Easter and public holidays.
