Most women have withdrawal bleeding during the ring-free week on NuvaRing. Like all hormonal methods of Birth Control, NuvaRing can lighten the bleeding so much that the bleeding may be almost or completely absent. Because hormonal methods prevent the uterine lining from building up as heavily, it's possible to miss a period.
If you have used the method correctly, pregnancy is unlikely, but you can take a pregnancy test if you miss your period and have pregnancy symptoms, or if you made any mistakes with the ring in the previous weeks. If you frequently miss periods on NuvaRing and find the absence worrisome, you can change to a different method.

∙ 12y agoLike any hormonal birth control method, Nuva Ring is likely to cause lighter flow and shorter periods than you had before you started on it. In the first three months, you may have irregular spotting or bleeding. It's less common on Nuva Ring than on the pill, but it can occur. After the three month "breaking in" period, you should see more regular periods and lighter flow.
Whatever bleeding you have, just keep using the ring on the schedule on your calendar, regardless of bleeding.

∙ 12y agoYes, that's correct. If you insert a new one on Monday, you remove it on Monday after three weeks, and then insert the next one a week after, also on Monday. You follow the calendar schedule regardless of any bleeding.

If your periods are irregular anyway then there is no way to tell, I advise you to see whether you have a period next month, if not then go and see a doctor for a pregnancy test. If you have only recently become sexually active then you should be using protection anyway.
