Jazz as a musical movement came about in the early 20th Century, first originating as "The Blues", which took influences from African American work songs, field hollers, spirituals, gospels, and African oral musical tradition, forming them into a new, call-and-response style of music that became one of the very foundations of popular music today. From the early blues roots, Jazz evolved into a myriad of other styles, such as Big Bang Swing, Bebop, Modal, Latin, Free Jazz, and Fusion. Not only did Jazz create and influence so many different types of music, but it also opened the doors for musicians who were not classically trained to show their stuff and be heard. The rich freedom provided by solo improvisation is a feeling unlike most, especially when you're surrounded by great musicians. As perfectly said in the comedy series The Spoils Before Dying: "Ah, the sanctuary of Jazz. The safety in no safety. The music lived in life while life is happening. Jazz is life's adventure set to rhythm."

Music changed the world a lot! When some people get sad, they often start listening to music, which then calms them down. If it wasn't for music, then this world would've been insane! Also, music changed the way people act. Sometimes, you may not have realized, but when people listen to music, they act as if they're the music. When someone listens to a sad song, they often get sad, or they act as if they're sad. So, music changed a lot of things.

The record player changed the world by creating an entire new industry. The "music business" which before the record player was invented was confined to attending a hall or theater to listen to music and songs by individual artists and orchestras. With the record player, the public, world wide now had access to the music and songs of artists that most people would only be able to read about.

As an aside, the invention of the record player was an example of how new technology can improve the world and create new jobs and new opportunities for people.

The jukebox played music. It required a quarter or other coins, then a song could be picked by numbers and letters - just like a vending machine - and played.
