Ideally rabbits should be kept in a cage outdoors. However, one becomes a house pet due to weather, keep it in a secure cage, away from other animals whenever possible, and away from places where it may suffer injury or cause damage. (Rabbits will chew on electrical cords, woodwork, and dangerous plastic items.)

Depends on the breed of rabbit. Standard more popular breeds like Rex rabbits, have less fur than Angora rabbits which can live outside. Many people keep their rabbits indoors. If you choose for your rabbit to live indoors I recommend getting the rabbit liter-box trained.
