21/4 + 11/3
= 9/4 + 4/3
(multiply 9/4 by 3)
(multiply 4/3 by 4)
= 27/12 + 16/12
= 43/12
One quarter (25%) is less than 2/3 (66%).
It is: 1/2 add 1/4 = 3/4
(1 and 1/4) + 3/4 = 2
It is 2 and 1/4 or 2.25
1/4+2/8 is the same as 1/4+1/4 = 2/4 = 1/2
Because one-half (1/2) + one-third (1/3) + one-quarter (1/4) = 1 and one-twelfth (1 1/12).
1/3 plush 1/3 equals 2/3
3 times then add another 1 quarter cup.
Since 1 + 1 = 2, then 1 quarter + 1 quarter is 2 quarters. 2 quarters make 50 cents.
I would have thought that the easiest solution is: 1. Find a quarter of 5 (=1.25) 2. Find a quarter of 8 (=2) 3. Add them together ( 1.25 + 2 = 3.25) QED
9 and 2 thirds or 9.66 (with the dot on top as the 6 never ends)
five quarters one and a quarter 1/2 x 2/2 = 2/4 2/4 + 3/4 = 5/4
