A device that bounces sound waves off underwater objects is called?
Any sound waves that happen to be propagating through the water will bounce off of any objects that are there. No device is required to make that happen. A system that intentionally generates sound waves underwater, and then receives and analyzes those that return after bouncing off of something in the water, is a SONAR system.
