The artificial hair is made by the plastic, it's easy to be broken, so it can't last for long time. I don't suggest use the artificial hair, you can buy the human hair.
One type is chemically identical to SARAN. but it is shot through a sort of nozzle machine and can be spun or woven. Saran is a type of plastic- used for plastic bags of all sorts.

It depends on what doll your talking about. If it is an AMERICAN GIRL DOLL, SPRING FIELD COLLECTION or some 18'' doll, it is made of (skin) smoothed vinyl. If it is a small BARBIE or MONSTER HIGH doll, it is made of plastic. All doll hair mostly is made of a special plastic.
Some doll hair is, according to where you get it from. Like barbie doll hairs are fake but if you get a really expensive doll hair it can be real.not even

If the doll is a Cosmetology training doll/mannequin head, it is perfectly fine to curl the hair with an iron. If it is a toy doll, the iron will most likely melt the hair.

That depends on the type of wig, but generally synthetic fibers.
BFC doll hair is rooted directly into the doll's head. Wigs sized for a 12" Blythe doll will fit a BFC doll's head, should you wish to change their hair--- the rooted hair can be cut off close to the head and the wig put over it.
One could surmise that wool is the 'hair' of the fleece-bearing animal that grows it. Hair, however, is not made from wool or fleece, unless of course, you're asking about a Raggedy Ann or Raggedy Andy doll. Their hair may be made from wool.

You shouldn't use ANY heat on a doll's hair. The hair is attached with plastic and using heat will melt it causing the hair to come out.
