G2 phase - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. G2 phase. G2 phase, or pre-mitotic phase, is the third and final subphase of Interphase in the cell cycle directly preceding Mitosis. It follows the successful completion of S phase, during which the cell's DNA is replicated.
G 2 is the third phase of cell cycle during inter-phase of nuclear division. It is preceded by S phase, in which the synthesis of DNA is completed. During G 2 phase those proteins are synthesized which take part in the formation of micro-tubules of the spindle fibers. After completion of G 2 phase the cell enters in to M phase.
The G2 phase continues growth of the cell and prepares the cell for mitosis by producing all of the enzymes that the cell will need in order to divide.
M Phase
The three stages before mitosis are the G1 S and G2 phases. In the G1 phase the cell grows, in the S phase the cell replicates its DNA, and in the G2 phase the cell grows again and replicates/ makes any organelles required for mitosis.
MPF promotes the entrance into mitosis from the G2 phase by phosphorylating multiple proteins needed during mitosis. MPF is activated at the end of G2 by a phosphatase, which removes an inhibitory phosphate group added earlier.
10% are undergoing mitosis at any given time. the rest obviously are in G1, S, or G2 phase
Put the following in order: G2, G1, S, mitosis, cytokinesis

Mitosis is a phase of the cell cycle. It occurs after the G2 phase.
During G2 (interphase) DNA duplicates. After duplication, in Prophase (mitosis), the DNA coils up into chromosomes. Recall that the cell cycle is as follows: G1, S, G2, Mitosis, Cytokinesis. Interphase is G1, S and G2 phases while Prophase is the first step in Mitosis, the replication of the cell.
G1 is part of the interphase. The cell cycle is: mitosis, G1, S (synthesis), G2 and finally mitosis again. G1, S and G2 are all part of the interphase.
The cell enters mitosis.
M Phase
mitosis, g1, s phase, g2
G2 phase stands for Gap 2 phase. The G2 phase occurs in the cell cycle of a cell undergoing mitosis. During this phase, which occurs between DNA synthesis and the start of mitosis, cell growth occurs while awaiting mitotic split of the cell.
