In the Lightning Thief, however, Percy has a step dad named Gabe Ugliano. Gabe is a very abusive father.

But at the end of The Lightning Thief Gabe gets turned to stone by Sally Jackson (Percy's mother) using Medusa's head.

Later in the series, Percy gets another step dad named Paul Blofis. (Percy often calls him 'Mr. Blowfish when Paul isn't around) He is a lot nicer than Gabe, and remains Percy's step father until the end of the series.
