Petra is famous for being the capital city of Nabataens and for being established in 312 BC. It is the place where King Aretas ordered the arrest of the Apostle Paul and is referred to as Sela in the bible.

The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. Petra is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Petra is an ancient city located in the country of Jordan. All that remains of the city now is ruins of what was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom. The city was captured by the Romans in AD 106 and became part of their Arabian Province.
