Rudolf Virchow is famous because he developed theory for doctors to wash hands before and after seeing patients. He also have many advances on cell theory and he analyzed effects of diseases on the human body.
Virchow: Rudulf Virchow was born October 13, 1821 and died September 5, 1902. Virchow was one of the 19th century's foremost leaders in medicine and pathology. He was also a public health activist, social reformer, politician, and anthropologist. He demonstrated that cell theory applies to diseased tissue as well as healthy tissue that is, diseased cells derive from the healthy cells of normal tissue. He did not, however, accept Louis Pasteur's germ theory of disease "the body is sterile and that germs from the air cause disease". He was also the first to recognize leukemia cells.
Virchow identified the three known causal factors associated with DVT and the relationship between DVT and PE. Virchow also introduced a standardised techique to perform autopsies.
