The MV-22, better known as the Osprey, falls into the category of a tiltrotor aircraft. This means that it takes off like a conventional helicopter but has the capability to convert its prop-rotors to a position like a turbo prop airplane. It is designed to get military troops into small landing zones but be able to get them to and from one location in a timely manner, just like an airplane. The Marine Corps has the MV-22 and the Air Force has the CV-22. The Osprey is a troop transport and has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
