It changes from year to year , but overall the average is around 500 to 520 for each of the three sections.

The best books to study for the SAT is The college board's official SAT study guide. Get that book and "Answers and Explanations " by Peter Tanguay. Answers and Explanations has the definitive and complete solutions to the SAT tests in the official SAT study guide. This is all you need to score high on the SAT. Good luck.

there are three sections to the SAT: math, critical reading, and writing. In each of these sections, you can score up to an 800, so the best one could get is a 2400 out of all three subjects. Most schools, however, only look at the math and critical reading sections because the writing section is a fairly new edition. This means that when most people ask you what you received on your SAT, it is usually out of 1600 rather than 2400. There are also SAT subject tests that some of the more elite colleges require and they are all out of 800. Make sure that you know whether or not your school of interest requires them. Especially for engineering, the college will probably want you to take a math and/or physics or chemistry test(s). Make sure you study for any of the tests, usually the overall content of the test is not too difficult but the style of questions can throw people off.

Naturally, anything from 750-800 would be the best on any SAT II. However, it depends on which test and which major you're taking in college. For example, if you are aiming for a Biology field in college, then a score of 550 on US History would be great. However, in the same field, you would need a biology score of 750 in order for it to really help you. Try your best in any test you take, but a very good score varies based on your major and the test.

The test is designed on a curve so that the middle (average) student taking the test receives a 500 on each subsection of the test (for a total of 1500).

Most candidates for Ivy League schools have between high 600s and a perfect 800 on each of the subsections.

So a 'good' score really is relative and can fall anywhere between 1500 and 2400 depending on your own expectations and goals. Over 2000 is a common goal.

"Good" is a relative term. Just being chosen for the Duke Talent Identification Program or one of the other programs that allows seventh graders to take the SAT is "good." From my experience in having taken the SAT in the seventh grade, I think any score by a seventh grader in math/critical reading that is above 1100 is "good" and any score above 1200 by a seventh grader is phenomenal. Three students in my seventh grade class who scored 1150 or above on the SAT as seventh graders went on to become National Merit Finalists.

That is a good answer. I am a seventh grader and i also took the SAT. all i can say is that 640 in math is the 98 percentile for above average seventh graders and 510 for CR is 87 percentile for above average seventh graders. Anything in the 500 means you are really smart?

Is 215 a good score?

If you are talking about credit score, understand that I am not a credit expert, but since a credit score of 620 is bad, 215 would be a terrible credit score. If this is for a test like the SAT, this is also horrible. The average score of the SAT is about 500, and even that isn't that good of a score.
