Actually, it would be considered either ionic or covalent. Ionic substances are good electrical conductors, because they can easily disperse into their ions once put into a solution, as with covalent polar substances. Covalent nonpolar substances have no electrical conductivity. Hope this helps. :)

Ionic compounds are better conductors of electricity since they readily form ions in solution that accept electrons and protons (and of course, pass them through the solution). Meanwhile, molecular compounds do not ionize as readily. For instance, table salt would from 2 ions in solution: Na+ and Cl-; meanwhile, sugar in the form of sucrose would only give one, C12H22O11. The cations and anions in the salt water solution would readily accept and pass on electrons due to their charges and incomplete octets. However, molecular compounds do not.
