In the King James version
the word - hero - does not appear

The word - hero - comes from a character in Greek mythology, a woman who was a priestess of Aphrodite at a temple on the shore of the Hellespont. Her lover - Leander - swam across it every night to visit her.

Some characteristics were flaws, doubt, faith, courage, and determination. Most biblical heroes (ex: Moses, Abraham, Joseph of Nazareth, etc.) first doubted the fact that they could carry such a burden, and doubted their ability to do it. Also, most of the people God chose to do a certain task, had flaws such as Moses who had a speaking disability and stuttered, or Joseph of Nazareth who knew the baby wasn't his, and was sacred of the thoughts of others and the same upon his family (Until, he later realized Mary didn't have sex with someone else, but God according to Christianity brought the Holy Spirit upon her and she conceived.) Even, when they doubted God, their faith reminded them that God knows all, and they went along with it. Courage was also faith. For ex, When Moses had to confront his brother on letting the slaves go, he was courageous to demand their freedom, until he (Pharaoh) let them go (Sort of). Lastly, after God told them their task, they were determined to go along with it, until they were rewarded with the outcome of it ex: Jesus being born, Moses' people being freed etc.
