A lipoma is basically a mass of fatty tissue. In medical terms it is considered a "soft tissue tumor" but it is not cancerous. It is harmless aside from the cosmetic issue; it can be removed by a simple procedure, but there is a risk of scarring. So the decision would be what is better, a lump or a scar?
