A closed adoption is where, after the child is adopted, there is no further contact withe the birth-family, except maybe annual letters.

I am an adopted child and I highly recommend closed adoptions, because once they're open- they stay open. Guaranteed.

A closed adoption is legal. The birth parents choose a couple and give the child to them without meeting them. There is no contact between the birthparents and child. All the child knows is health records of the parents and ethnicity and things like that.

What is the difference between an open and a closed infant adoption?

An open and closed infant adoption varies greatly. An open infant adoption allows the genetic parents to still have the right to see their child. A closed infant adoption prevents the genetic parents from seeing their child.

What is the difference between closed adoption and open adoption?

In an open adoption the birth parent(s) are allowed to visit and contact the child. The child may not know them as mom or dad but rather as aunt uncle or cousin. In a closed adoption the birth parents have no contact with the child what so ever. Also, in a closed adoption, the adoptive parents have the right not to tell the child they are adopted if that makes life easier. I was adopted in a closed adoption.

The benefits of foreign adoption vs domestic adoption is that it is a quicker process as you're broadening your search. In addition, it'll likely be a closed adoption, with no contact with the biological parents.

How can you find the adoption papers if your daughter was adopted without your permission?

From my experience this can not happen. If it was a closed adoption in some states you can not be in contact til the child is 21. In most states it is 18. I know this because I am currently searching for my daughter and it was a closed adoption without my permission.

Parents looking for children to adopt?

Any parent looking to adopt should check with their city/state about kids up for adoption. Contact a local adoption agency to find out who is up for adoption. Make sure you know if you want to have an open or closed adoption (open is the birth parents can contact the child closed is they can not) and be prepared for adoption to be set up and then fall though (the birth mother/father stop the adoption process).

Should adoption records be open or closed?

How are closed and open adoption alike?

The only thing they have in common is that you are not raising your child. As for the adoption procedure it is the same. And as soon as the adoption is legal and through the adoptive parents can close it if they want to.

What to do if birth mother shows up and its a closed adoption?

well depends on the situation

How do you open a closed adoption case?

Its nearly impossible to open a closed adoption, you would have to get a court order with probable cause to the information....like if you are sick and need your birthparents blood tested...or something like that. But the court must grant you the right to see the adoption records. That is the only way I know of.

What are teen mothers choice if they dont want their child?

Open Adoptions and Closed AdoptionsIf you decide to put your baby up for adoption, you could have an open or closed adoption. An open adoption is when you get to choose the parents who will be raising your baby. One benefit of this is that you can form a relationship with your baby's new parents and possibly even keep in contact as your baby grows.A closed adoption is when everything is kept private. There are also different ways to go about the adoption. You could choose to use an agency. This is usually used in closed adoptions and means that they will be the ones responsible for all the legal matters and finding the new parents. If you want to have an open adoption, then you can either use an agency or go through independent means. An independent adoption is when you go through a doctor, lawyer or someone else that knows a couple that wants to adopt. If you decide to do an independent adoption, you should consider getting a lawyer to make sure you're protected. However, using an agency may be easier and many agencies nowadays encourage parents to do an open adoption.Helpful ResourcesIn the United States:Planned Parenthood: 1-800-230-PLAN or www.plannedparenthood.org to find the nearest clinicNational Adoption Information Clearinghouse: 1-888-251-0075Independent Adoption Center: 1-800-877-6736NARAL Pro-Choice America: www.naral.org for detailed information about state laws regarding abortionChildren's Aid Society: www.childrensaidsociety.org or call (212)949-4800 for more information about adoption and foster care options
