Is electrical energy converted to mechanical energy by fuel?
What is the difference between motor and generators?
Motors and generators are energy converters. A motor converts energy into motion energy (mainly rotation). The energy can be electrical current, fuel, steam, etc. A generator converts motion energy mainly into electical power. The rotation of the generator (motion enery) can be caused by wind enery, water power or combustion motors.
What are the similarities between generators and motors?
The basic idea behind a generator is that it converts mechanical energy (kinetic) to electrical energy in the form of electric current. A motor does this process in reverse: it uses electrical energy and converts it into mechanical energy (it produces motion). This is, presumably, what your physics teacher wants to hear.

What is mechanical energy and how it is converted?
Mechanical energy is sum of the GPE the energy related to position and EPE the elastic energy related to position and the KE the energy related to motion and it is converted to heat energy and you can convert ME to electrical energy A generator is used to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy. A motor converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.
Is turbine a device that converts kinetic energy into electrical energy?
Strictly speaking, a turbine turns a flow or a jet of something into a rotary motion. Can be wind, water or steam. But that rotary motion can then be used to spin a generator/alternator/dynamo, and all of these will then produce electric energy. Often the two are so closely integrated, that the whole assembly is simply known as the "turbine".

What device is used to generate electricity?
A generator, alternator, or dynamo is a (usually)rotating machine that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. This is the principle behind electrical generation with the windmill, hydroelectric generator, crank generator. Ocean wave generators take advantage of the vertical motion of rising and falling water to achieve the same effect.

How does a mechanical tachometer work?
it is a device that converts mechanical into electric measurements. it measures velocity. there are many types: electrical, mechanical, thermo-electrical... for example the mechanical tachometer converts the rotation motion into translation motion with the help of an axis so you can read it on the scale of the tachometer. sorry for not being so good at explaining this. hope somebody will be more documented.
