What is a example of data and information?
September 12, 2014 7:31PM
There is no real difference between data and information. Information usually apples to something which users can understand. Data may calculated in intermediate processing steps in forms that are not meant for the users.

Differentiate data and information and examples of each?

What is the name of information given to the computer to analyze?
Data is given to computers to analyse. The result is information. The terms data and information are used interchangeably, but strictly speaking data is the raw facts and information is what can be derived from them. For example, a list of dates of birth is data. How many of those dates of birth are in the month of April is information. A list if numbers is data. The average of those numbers is information. By analysing data, we can get information.
What is the different between data and information in MIS?
data is raw. It is the collection of facts, figures which in itself do not provide any useful or meaningful context. Data when processed becomes information. it is information and not the data which is useful for managers. For example, age of all personnel working in an organisation is Data, while, average age is information.

1 Differentiate between Data and Information?
Data is the collection of raw facts and figures whereas information is the useful result or inference etc. obtained after processing some data. In other words processed data is called information. For example the observations obtained in the physics lab is the DATA and the result obtained after going through that data is the INFORMATION.

What type of information is available on the city data website?
What is the relationship between data and information?
Basically there is no difference. Data could be the numbers and fields in a spreadsheet, that would also be the information that you would want to convey via the spreadsheet. Data is a collection of facts, such as values or measurements. Information is collection of some data. For an example : A mobile number is a data, but a list of mobile numbers is information.
What is the difference between data and information?
Data consists of raw facts and figures. When that data is processed into sets according to context, it provides information. For example, recording the temperature of your classroom continuously over a set period is data collection. From that data information may be derived, such as the highest, lowest, and average temperatures over that period. A computer follows instructions (a 'program') in order to process 'data' into 'information', and can make possible the processing of vastly greater amounts of data that can be achieved efficiently otherwise. I'll give you an example, Data: Each student's test score is a piece of data. Information: The class' average score or the school's average score is the information that can be concluded from the given data.
What is the difference between data and information at least 8?
I am not sure about the "at least 8" part of the question. The answer to the question the difference between data and information is simple. Information is derived from data. In other words data can be transformed or refined into information. Information can then be again stored as data, such as placing the information into a "DATAbase"...where more information can then be gleaned from it. For example, a temperature reading from a thermometer would be a piece of data. If you recorded the data over and over again you could then find out information from it, like at certain times the temperature rises or falls (depending on what you are measuring).
Data -v- information?
While data refers to raw and unorganized facts that require some processing, information is data that has been processed, organized and presented in a particular manner. The individual scores of students in a test is an example of data while the average score of the class is information obtained from the relevant data.

What is statistics and data?
Statistics are values that give information about a group. For example, 60% of teens in the US graduate high school is a statistic because it gives a number, 60%, to tell information about a group of people, teenagers. (This statistic was made up for an example). Data is the information collected to formulate that statistic. Using the previous example, the data would be the numbers recorded of teens that graduate throughout the US to come up with 60%. Data develops a statistic, and a statistic provides information about a specific topic.

The role of data and information in business?
Data and information systems(software) actually speed up and simplifies the process of work, and management in a business. example, an Automated Payroll System that compute salary in a easy way. Information System - the database of a business. It includes, employees information, inventories etc. Example: You want to know the complete address of a certain employee. Data is used by Information systems (like Employee Information System) as an input (these are raw facts, example: employee ID number) and used into a process (searching), and and output which is information (complete address).
