Rifts are areas in the Earth's lithosphere where plates are moving apart and being infilled with basaltic magmas from the asthenosphere.

The Great Rift Valley :)
FALSE
usually a rift or trench
There are many geological faults in East Africa, notably the Great Rift Valley.
Usually the movement of tectonic plates.
First named by the British explorer John Walter Gregory, the Great Rift Valley is an enormous geological feature that runs for 5,000km from northern Syria in southwestern Asia to central Mozambique in East Africa.
The Great Rift Valley is predominently a feature of the African landscape. It starts (or ends) in northern Syria (in Southwest Asia) and runs southward through east Africa to central Mozambique.

It's not. They are both valleys but were formed by distinctly different geological processes. They are alike you just gave the ans. they're both valleys....
Initially horst and graben structures will form. If plate separation or divergence continues, a rift valley will form and ultimately this can develop into a new Mid-Ocean-Ridge.
I live in a rift valley! Before today, I was unaware that I am a Rift Valley Dude.
