i think cats and snakes will eat them (i KNOW cats will)

About that, let me add. My gerbil was outside for a while (she refused to run far) and she was in a field. She looked up and saw a hawk in the air. She started shivering (poor thing!). So we picked her up and she snuggled up to me like she felt safe i my arms.

So Birds of Prey, cats, snakes, some frogs, and sometimes even dogs.

Guinea pigs are herbivores, this means they eat vegetation. Their main food source is grass, not other animals. Predators eat other animals (or living things) called prey. Guinea pigs are classed as prey, because they are a lot smaller than many predators who would like to eat them.

However, it should be noted that whilst domestic guinea pigs will not eat other animals, guinea pigs should not be housed with other animal species. This is because guinea pigs can be susceptible to diseases other animals may carry.

What are Gerbils Predators?

Natural predators of gerbils are snakes, cats, and birds of prey--all of which come down on the prey, so make sure when you pick up your gerbil, you scoop it from underneath.

Due to the harsh environment that gerbils would live in, the only predators would be the odd sanke or bird but nothing much.

How do wild gerbils cope in the wild for being so small?

In the deserts gerbils bury tunnels underground that they call 'chambours.' And one gerbil is in charge of that one. Gerbils often group up together to defend each other from predators such as Snakes, Birds probably.

What do gerbils do in the desert?

Gerbils are naturally from the desert, so they do anything else a wild animal should do. They burrow underground to prevent desert heat and predators. They make nests out of most things they could find (dried grass, etc). Gerbils hunt for bugs and eat roots and seed. They are pack animals, so they live in clans. Gerbils are diurnal, which means they sleep on and off between activities.

Do gerbils eat parts of other dead gerbils?

Yes. Because when one in nature dies it attracts pradators. So they eat the dead one so the predators dont eat them all. When a gerbil dies just take it out of the cage and bury it or throw the gerbil away in a bag.

Who invented gerbils?

Why do gerbils beat their feet on the floor the gerbils beat out a distinctive rhythm to each other with their feet why is this?

they might like each other!! It's part of how they communicate. Gerbils thump their legs when they are feeling threatened, scared, annoyed or being territorial. They also do it to warn other gerbils of food, predators or to tell them to go away. I have also find that they do it when excited because when I bring apple of toilet roll (their favourite things) they thump their legs out of excitement. Basically it is to show any extreme emotions they may be feeling to each other and you.

Can gerbils get fixed?

Male gerbils can be neutered, but it is not recomended. Female gerbils should not be spayed. In general male gerbils should not be neutered unless there is a good reason for it.

Are there rodents smaller then gerbils?

Yes, mice are smaller than gerbils, but I think gerbils are the right size.
