Well, it depends.
I, personally use a 10 gallon glass tank, for my wonderful tame Syrian hamster. If you choose to do what i do, make sure you do not get over two dwarfs. If you want a wire one, it is harder to se your hamster, and take it out. But, it has better ventilation. I'd say a tank, but don't disconsider a normal barred cage for your furry one. Make sure the cage is spacious, and nice.

∙ 15y agoDont get a wired cage your hamster will chew the bars. But how ever dont get a Ovo suite it is WAY too small. And plastic is bad for hamsters even with a dwarf hamster its too small. I would say you should get a 20 gallon tank or bin cage. A tank is easy to clean and your hamster will have LOTS of space and do what ever you want with it!!! Put a wheel chew toys etc. And who would want to spend so much money for plastic that is not healthy for your furry friend. How ever bin cages are FAR BY THE CHEAPEST! Only around 7 dollars! They have lots of room too you can drill holes on the lid so your hamster can breath drill lots of holes! I know this from a breeder who has been breeding hamsters for many years! Remember just cause if a cage looks fun its pure plastic and it may be small and LOTS of money! You can drill holes in bin cages so you can put tubes in it! Its still fun and cheap for us and great for your hamster!!! This is from shampers!!

∙ 8y agoWell it doesnt really matter what kind of cage because since they are so small they dont need too much room. for my nasty hammy who loves to bite me, i have a plastic bin. this is great because they are cheap, no bars so they dont bite on them, easy to clean, light weight, and you can get really size. oh, and you can connect them with tubes :) hope i helped!

∙ 10y agoNo matter what breed, color, size, shape, attitude, All hamsters need AT LEAST 360 square inches of floor space in their cage. Bigger is always better. Most cages of cages you will see in the petstore are: Crittertrail cages, Habitrail OVO cages, Small critter keeper, ect. But, These cages are way too small for a hamster. You can find out how big your cage is by measureing it by the lengh x the width. If the size is under 360 square inches than it is too small. Cages I like and have are a 20 gallon auqariam, 110 qt bin cages, Guinea pig cages and rat cages. Just make sure the floor is non-wire and the bars on the cage are only one in. because if the bars are too wide your hamster can escape. I hope this helped you!

∙ 15y agoMy syrian hamster lives in a cage with lots of tunnels and levels i think these sorts of cages are good for them as they like climbing and exploring and she seems very happy.
