Nothing. The smallest size that's OK for a fish is 5 gallons and that's only for a betta. Any other fish need much more room. In a one gallon, you can put plants and some snails, but not much more.

That is comonly misconstrewed, BETA FISH WILL NOT EAT OTHER FISH.Sure, if it a little tiny guppy it might but it won't fight with any other fish except another male betta. the best kind of fish are fish that won't nip fins of other fish and any slower moving fish that is calm and not too territoal.Namly: goldfish, platys, mollies, sword tails, tetras, BIGER guppys, corys, and algae eating fish. Do not keep fish in fish bowls unless you want to torture them! Fish will live in their own feces unless you change the water frequently. But if you change the water frequently, they'll suffer from a shock everytime they get into a new water. That's why they need filters and fish bowls cannot have filters. They also need a heater! Bettas also appreciate plants and caves to swim in and around. Goldfish should not be kept with bettas because they are COLD water fish and the bettas are WARM water fish. The betta needs a heater while the goldfish will suffer in warm water. Cory cats, algae eating fish, mollies, and tetras all need at least 30 gallons. Platys need 15-20. The bettas will do fine with all of them if they all have plenty of room. As a matter of fact, yes there ARE heaters and filters made especially for fishbowls! They are the Hydor 7.5W Mini Heater and the Hagen Elite Mini Filter. They also make undergravel filters for bowls (Lee's Round Undergravel filter, 2 gallon).

None!! Fish bowls are too small for any breed of fish to live in..especially not goldfish!! 1 fancy goldfish (those with fancy 4 finned tails, such as oranda) needs at least 40 litres of water to live in...double those litres for normal, single-tailed common goldfish (comets etc).

Fish bowls should have been banned along time ago!!

Yes but the fish would not be happy, this is now considered cruel to fish. Try to get a larger bowl at least 2 gallons or a reasonably sized standard tank with a few decorations.

Bowls are not big enough for fish and can stress them out. If your going to buy a fish at least buy a 10 Gallon tank for it. They are only about $10. No fish is good in a bowl.

How many goldfish should you keep in a fish bowl?

It depends how big your bowl is if it is below 5 gallons then you should put one. But if it is 1 or 2 gallons then you will have to move it into a 5 gallon tank or bowl at the least.

Can you put a goldfish in a one and a half gallon bowl?

If it is a small goldfish, it will physically fit in something that small. But, it will not live very long in it. If you wish to keep goldfish alive, you need at least ten gallons of water for each goldfish along with a good filter and a heater to keep the water temperature stable. With proper care goldfish can easily live 15+ years.

How do you keep goldfish healthy in a bowl?

Goldfish need more space than what people may believe; one goldfish needs a 20 gallon tank, and you need an additional 10 gallons per fish after (so 2 goldfish in 30 gallons)This is not just about their potential size (which is big), but the amount of waste they produce. The old adage of inches of fish per gallon is completely incorrect when it comes to goldfish due to being high waste producers.

Is it safe to have 3 Goldfish in a 1 gallon bowl I went to my local pet store the owner told me that is was safe to have 3 of the common goldfish in my 1 gallon bowl they seem to be fine Safe?

This is absolutely not safe.A fancy goldfish needs 20 gallons on it's own, with an additional 10 gallons for each fish added; that would mean that you need a 40 gallon tank for 3 fancy goldfish.Common (single-tail) goldfish grow very long, and due to this they need at least 30 gallons for one fish, with an additional 15 gallons for each common fish added; that would mean that you need a 65 gallon tank for 3 common goldfish. The only thing you can put in a 1 gallon bowl would be a betta, but even a betta would be better in 2.5 gallons or above.

What are the requirements for a tank to put goldfish eggs into?

What is necessary for a goldfish to live in its bowl?

It is NOT very right to keep a goldfish in a bowl. Not only do they become bored and unhappy, but it can cause health problems and stunt the fish's growth. However, the VERY least you can do for a fish in a bowl is the biggest bowl you can find. Also, goldfish NEED some sort of filter to live a reasonable amount of years, and filters cannot be put in bowls. I recommend at least a 5 gallon tank for your fish. Really though, there is nothing special you can do for a fish in a bowl.

How many gallons of water does 2 guppies need to survive?

Well, 4 guppies would be fine in a 2 gallon bowl, but they breed a lot, so you'll have to put them in a 10 gallon tank once there is fry [put the fry in the 10 gallon tank, not the parents!]. But if your just keeping 4 females, or 4 males, they can live in the bowl just fine. I would not put them in a 1 gallon, or 0.5 gallon bowl, though. It's not big enough [not as big as a 2 gallon bowl is]. You can feed guppies betta pellets, betta flakes, or even a broken goldfish flake, if your guessing what to feed them. If you just had goldfish, or betta fish that just passed away, use their fish food to feed your guppies. It won't hurt them, because guppies can and will eat just about anything you float on their water. Hope this helps.

How many goldfish can you put in your 2-gallon tank?

You cannot put any goldfish in a 2 gallon tank. One fancy goldfish needs at minimum a 20 gallon tank on it's own. This is not just because of their adult size potential, but also because they are very messy fish and produce a high amount of waste.
