A good party to start with would be getting the next pokemon(when u start with chimchar):
-chimchar(of course)
-shinx(in the route next to sandgem town)
-budew(in the route north of jublife city)
-magikarp(with exp share)
-and geodude(cave north of jublife city)
-and if u want when u get bicycle (after beating Gardenia)u can go to the wayward cave and get a gible

∙ 12y agois chimchar/infernape, shinx/lukray, magicarp/gyrados, geodude/golem, Abra/alakasam, starly/staraptor a good starter team. i have heard that you can get all the lowere leveled Pokemon there eg)chimchar, geodude, shinx before the first gym badge.

∙ 11y agoi would say a good starter team is:your first starter,shinx,starly,zubat,ponyta[found in the field where the machop are also rare in that region],and onix all found near twinleaf town/[second city that i forget lol]/and orberg city that are what i say are decent starter team in the beginning but this is my opinion

Turtwig is a good starter to go with.Why? Because when it evolves in stage 2, Ground and Grass, It is really strong to infernape, and the other Fire types.And it is strong against grass. I would have Shinx,Starly,Bidoff. They are the only one to catch when you start your adventure.
