Memorizing a written passage or poem is usually best done by simple repetition.
Learn the first sentence by repeating it over and over. Then, add the next sentence, and so on. Soon, you will have the entire thing memorized!
Of course, it helps if you understand it - knowing what something means makes it more likely that you will remember the words.
