A jester is somebody who jests, jokes, or mocks - or someone dressed in bright clothes who amused a medieval court.
People laughing at him.
Jesters make people feel good about them selves. So if people laugh at him he feels good about himself.
The name of a jester's hat is called a "fool's cap" or a "jester's cap." It typically features points or bells on its ends and is associated with jesters and clowns.
jesters were treated on how ever the king was feeling that day. if he was in a really bad mood the jester might be beheaded.
because jesters are evil
There were no set wages for a jester.
Jester should be spelt "gestures". It means hand movements...
A jester could be of any age. The most important things about jesters were that they had to be entertaining, and this can be done by young and old alike.
Jesters were people who were funny or, possibly, attractively offensive. They got their jobs because they were entertaining enough to keep around and pay to be what they were. Clearly, some were better than others. When a member of the nobility came across some person who could be a good jester, it was not uncommon to offer that person a job and pay. If the jester was very good, and the noble wanted to get into the good graces of someone in a higher position, the jester could be recommended to that higher person as a favor to both him and the jester. The best jesters were gradually passed to successively better employers until they might work for a king. Jesters at the highest levels could earn quite a lot of money, and there are records of jesters with a number of estates of their own, given as rewards for their services.
The courts of royalty play host to jesters. However, one could say that the court of public opinion is fertile ground for the committed jester.
Jester's had to entertain the lord, hes family and guests after dinner in the Great Hall. They made jokes about the people laughing at him and about what is going on in the world. Jokes and songs could be rude and the jester would not get in trouble. Jesters had the right to speak their mind and do it in a funky way.
Jesters were licenced fools, meaning that they had licence to do want they wanted and get away with it. Jesters' tricks were often of an intellectual type. For example, one of the kings of Scotland noticed that the king signed official documents without reading them. He drew up a document under which the king abdicated royal authority to the jester for a period of two weeks. The king signed it, and the jester made his trick known.
