The names of the basic pokémon in Emerald are Treecko (grass), Torchic (fire), and Mudkip (water). Treecko evolves into Grovyle at level 16 and then into Sceptile at level 36 (they keep the grass type through the process). Torchic evolves into Combusken (fire-fighting) at level 16 and then into Blaziken (still fire-fighting) at level 36. Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp (water-ground) at level 16 and then into Swampert (still water-ground) at level 36. It's the same in Ruby and Sapphire versions.
