A number sequence is an ordered set of numbers. There may be a simple or complicated rule defining the sequence or it may be purely random.

If a1, a2, a3, ... is a number sequence, then define

S1 = a1,

S2 = a1 + a2,

S3 = a1 + a2 + a3,

...

Sn = a1 + a2 + a3 + ... + an , etc

then Sn is a number series.

What does mode mean in a math problem?

Mode refers to a number in a series of number which shows up most frequently in that series. For example, in the series 1, 2, 2, 2, 4, 4, 6, "2" would be the mode because it is the most frequent number in that series.

In mathematics how do you work out the range?

The Range is the distance on the number line that the smallest number is from the biggest number, in sbsolute value. Basically, to find it using math, you would subtract the smallest number in the series of numbers from the largest number in the same series.

What is series in math?

It is a set of numbers derived from a sequence. The first number in the series is the first number of the sequence. The second number in the series is the sum of the first two numbers of the sequence. The third number in the series is the sum of the first three numbers of the sequence. and so on. Mathematically, a series is easily defined using the sigma notation but that, unfortunately, is beyond the scope of this browser.

Can you add a rational number and an irrational number and get a rational number?

No, the result is always an irrational number. In more advanced math it is possible to add an infinite amount of rational numbers by way of Taylor Series and get an irrational number. This is how numbers like "Pi" and "e" are derived.
