The nucleus is the region of the cell that contains the genetic material of the cell which are pairs of chromosomes. The chromosomes are responsible for controlling the metabolic and reproductive activities of the cell.

In plants pairs of chromosomes (diploid or 2n) are found in most general cells; specialised cells such as pollen grains and the ovules contain haploid (or n) single chromosomes which are formed through the process of meitosis.

When the egg is fertilised (through cross pollination) one the single chromosomes join to become diploid again (2n), thus the new plant inherits genetic material from each parent.

In pollen is it actually more complicated than that as there are normally 3 sets of chromatids, but two of these control the growth of the pollen tube and eventually degenerate leaving a single set to fuse with the set from the ovule.

The nucleus of the plant cell is structurally and functionally very similar to the nucleus of an animal cell. It is a discrete organelle, usually centrally located, that is bound by the nuclear membrane and functions to both store and regulate the transcription of the genetic material of the cell.

The nucleus is located above the cytoplasm, above the ribosomes, above the endoplasmic reticulum, above the golgi body, "north'' of the mitochondria and vacuole, underneath the cell membrane, "north" of the chloroplasts, and lastly inside the cell wall.

Yes. It can also be found in an animal cell. Plant and animal cells are Eurkaryotic cells. Which means they have a nucleus. Other cells are Prokaryotic. Which means they have no nucleus. The only Prokaryotic cell is bacteria.

it is in both, the nucleus is like the brain of the cell.

Where is the nucleus located in a plant cell?

Unlike the animal cell where the nucleus is located in the middle. The plant cells vacuole is in the center. The nucleus is pushed off to the side but remains inside the cell wall.

What is a plant nucleus?

The nucleus is the "control center" of a cell, which is located in most plant and animal cells.

Where is vacuoles located in a cell?

Vacuole are located around the nucleus in animal cells and directly above the nucleus in a plant cell.

Where is the vacuoles located in a cell?

Vacuole are located around the nucleus in animal cells and directly above the nucleus in a plant cell.

Where is the nucleus in an animal cell located?

The nucleus in an animal cell is located in the center of an animal or plant cell because it controls the movements of materials in and out of the cell as it contributes in the life span of a cell

Where in the cell is a vacuole?

Vacuole are located around the nucleus in animal cells and directly above the nucleus in a plant cell.

Why is the nucleus near the edge of the cell?

Ninety percent of a plant is covered by the vacuoles in order to store food. For this reason, the plant cell nucleus is located on their side.

Where are chromosomes located in a plant cell?

In the nucleus, just like in an animal cell. It is hard to find a picture of it.

Is a nucleus a plant cell?

No. The nucleus is the part of the cell that holds the DNA. Plant cells have a nucleus, but a nucleus by itself is not a cell.

Where is nucleus found in a plant and an animal cell?

the nucleus of plants and animal cells are located in the center of the cell. they are surrounded by the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
