pressure acts in all directions.

each 2.31 feet of water = 1 psi

so 6/2.31 = 2.6 psi, don't forget air pressure at surface to add ( 14.7 psi)

so total = 2.6 + 14.7 = 17.3 psi

water pressure represents weight of water of column 1" * 1" * 6 feet high

air pressure represents weight of air of column 1" * 1" * height to edge of atmosphere from sea level
