How often should you clean your shotgun?

If it's an heirloom ==> every time you shoot it.If it's a tool, and you use it daily, at least once every couple boxes of shells. If you don't shoot quite that much, try to treat it like an oil change. 3months or 3 boxes of shells while in use. With semi-automatic shotguns it is easy to tell when they need a cleaning beyond the regimen. They start to have trouble moving the shells around. The gas tube that moves the action get's gummed up, pressure goes down, and shells don't eject right. Take the gun apart and shine the parts, keep the oil down, but do use a touch.DO KNOW, in one afternoon of trap, you can send well over 500 rounds through a chamber before you have real trouble. I wouldn't take it back to the club without cleaning it though. The dirtier the barrel, the bigger the kick.....

What to feed a 1 year old horse and how much?

There are many schools of thought on feeding and much of it is breed dependant so insure you have a good understanding of your yearling's breed characteristics. Interaction with long term successful owners of the yearling's breed would be helpful. Examples of feeding programs. 1) Feed 30% of it's body weight plus supplementation. 2) Feed 20% of it's expected body weight as an adult plus supplementation. 3) Feed free choice hay plus supplementation. 4) Quality pasture plus supplementation. Hay when pasture becomes unavailable. 5) Other programs With most Thoroughbreds free choice feeding of hay works quite well. Other, easier keeping breeds, would become obese with this feeding regimen. The debate about feeding concentrates (grain) to young, growing horses is an ongoing one...the general concensus is that grain in a non-working horse is unnecessary and in a growing horse can be detrimental if not very carefully managed. Young horses should have an acceptable body score 4-6. Carrying too much weight can increase the stress on growing joints. Slimmer yearlings, with good bloom (shiney hair coat, adequate muscle etc.) are best. Maintain adequate consistent growth as much as possible.

How much should i feed an dog?

Start by following the recommended amount on your dog food bag based on the dogs size and current weight. Adjust from there if the dog is becoming thinner or fatter. You should be able to feel the ribs on the side of the dog with a light layer of fat over them. If you can't feel the ribs at all the dog is too heavy and you should reduce their food.

What vaccinations are required for horses in Texas?

What is absolutely required changes depending on the governmental body running the competition, but there are some basic recommendations for all horses in the US concerning vaccination. Core vaccines recommended for all horses in the US by the American Association of Equine Practitioners are: Eastern and Western Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Tetanus and Rabies. But even the recommendations for these "core vaccines" vary based upon exact geographic location, health status of the horse, previous adverse reaction to vaccination, etc. Then beyond even those core vaccines are "risk-based vaccines" that are recommended based upon the risk factors that vary from horse to horse: age, living situation, geographic location and use. Risk-based vaccinations include: Influenza, Equine Herpes Virus 1&4, Botulism, Strangles, Equine Viral Arteritis, etc. Competition would definitely be a risk-factor for Influenza and EHV-1 & 4 and possibly even Strangles, but again age, type of vaccine used, etc are all going to play a part in what risk-based vaccinations should be given and how often. Because there there is no one-size-fits-all vaccination schedule for horses, horse owners should always contact their vet to determine what is recommended for their exact situation. And check every year to be sure that there have not been changes to the recommendations because veterinary medicine is a continually changing field...we learn more everyday and thus changes in recommendations occur frequently

Are there side effects of taking ADVIL daily?

Taking Advil, since it is an aspirin regimen, can lower your risk of heart disease and heart attack. However, Advil isn't the best or the safest aspirin regimen to take. If you insist of taking an aspirin regimen every day, I would recommend Bayer aspirin regimen. But other than that, there are no really serious side effects. However, do not take an aspirin regimen if you are experiencing stomach problems. If your stomach feels like it is cramping or hurting really bad, I would recommend switching over to a Tylenol regimen. Tylenol is 100% ibuprofen. I am recommending this because you should NEVER take an aspirin regimen when experiencing stomach discomfort.
