Satay, is a dish/snack popular throughout not only Malaysia and Thailand, but also Indonesia and Philippines. Because satay originated in Indonesia. Satay, simply means "sate", in Malay language. What satay simply is, is skewers of grilled chicken, pork or beef marinaded and dipped in a sweet sauce. Kind of like "pinchos" from Puerto Rico. Satay is a Malaysian/Indonesian style kabobs. Satay varies all over Southeast Asia. However since Philippines is a mostly Catholic country, satay from Luzon (Philippines's northern most major island) is made with grilled pork. Satay from Visayas and Mindanao are more closer to the original and real satay from Indonesia or Malaysia. Filipinos are also well known for making fish-satay, skewers with grilled fish or squid. Most satay, uses peanut sauce.
