When its cold it idles high and has a hesitation at higher rpms. code reader says PO171. Whats wrong?

PO171 means your fuel system is running too lean. In other words you are not getting the correct fuel air ratio to bank 1. It could be a vaccum leak, a faulty 02 sensor or even clogged fuel injectors. I'd start with the vacuum leak first. Get a piece of 3/8 hose and use it like a doctors stethascope to try and find a hissing sound. Good luck
