There are a number of possibilities. In Canada, troop trains were used simply civilian trains (or in some cases, converted cattle cars) used to transport soldiers from cities to training camps, such as Camp Valcartier, and then on to Quebec City or Halifax for the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to England for further training, before heading to the battlefields of France and Belgium. Once the troops arrived in one of the port cities in France, they boarded another troop train, which would then take them to wherever their assigned battalion or regiment was in France/Belgium. As well, in some cases, troop trains were also used to move soldiers from one area of battle to another, for example, the moving of the entire Canadian Corps in the lead-up to the Hundred Days Offensive (see "Canada's Hundred Days" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada%27s_Hundred_Days)

How do you maximize troop training in kingdoms of Camelot?

There is no way to maximise troop training in KoC, but I can suggest setting up as many archers to train as possible, as many times as possible, then wait for "full" population, cancel all training and set up a new train for your troop type. It does cost a lot of resources, but it is better in the long run.
