Alfalfa was played by the late Carl Dean Switzer (August 7, 1927 - January 21, 1959) . He attempted to stay in acting after The Little Rascals, but had little success. One of his last film appearances was not in a live role, but as a photograph in the movie "White Christmas", as the brother of one of the singing sisters, who had served in World War II. After show business, he became a hunting guide, and eventually was killed by gunshot as a result over an argument about $50.
US actor Brandon "Bug" Hall (born February 4, 1985) played Alfalfa in the 1994 movie.
Carl Switzer played the original Alfalfa in the film series from 1935-1940.

Alfalfa, real name Carl Switzer was ( he died in the forties) one of the fictional comedy team known as the Little Rascals or Our Gang. Not in any sense a farmer or rustic, I wonder where they got this agrarian name.
