According to my research, ogres originated from French myth and were used by French authors in their own fairytales although it is not a settled origin, as other people would argue that is came from Hungary or Italy there is no definite origin. Ogres where classified as vast, monstrous and often hideous deformed humans who are cannibals with enormous appetites. They could be compared to the likes of a troll but considered less macabre and violent.
