Calibration on a Nintendo DS is when you make sure that when you touch the screen with the stylus it thinks it is being touched in the right place.
For example, if you tap the bottom left corner, the DS's calibration will make sure that it thinks it's being touched in the bottom left corner. If a Nintendo DS isn't calibrated properly, it will make it hard to play because you won't be able to tap it in the right spots when you are supposed to.
