Originally an acronym for Grid Cache File (Grid was an early codename for Steam), GCF is now commonly taken to mean Game Cache File. GCF's are the name of the single files in which Steam games are stored and official content is downloaded.

If the document was created using Microsoft Office 2007 then it will have a file extension similar to the earlier versions but with an x at the end of the file extension. For instance, if the file is created in Word, then the file extension with be .docx and will not be able to open in any earlier versions of Microsoft Office. You can create a document and when saving use the drop down box at the bottom to save it as a Word 97-2003 .doc file. These .doc files are the only files that will work with earlier versions. For instance: Word 2007 file extension - .docx Excel 2007 file extension - .xlsx Powerpoint 2007 extension - .pptx Word 97 - 2003 extension - .doc Excel 97 - 2003 extension - .xls Powerpoint 97-2003 extension - .ppt
