its about alot of stuff
Chapter 6 in the book "Touching Spirit Bear" focuses on Cole's time in the isolation of the Alaskan wilderness as part of his restorative justice sentence. During this chapter, Cole struggles with his inner demons and begins to confront his past actions while learning to survive in the harsh environment. This chapter sets the stage for Cole's journey of self-discovery and redemption throughout the novel.
In this chapter, Cole discovers that he has not made any progress swimming to the next island. Cole eventually washes ashore weak, cold, and confused. Cole searches for the fire to warm up but cannot find it. As Cole sits down near where he left his clothes, he sees the spirit bear. The spirit bear stares at Cole, Cole gets angry with this matter and grabs a knife from one of the burnt boxes. When Cole turns to Face the bear, he is gone. Cole remembers at the sentencing circle his father holding the feather, William Matthews lies about what he has done as a father to Cole. The chapter ends with Cole shouting "That's bull!" You drink until you can't stand up, and you're gone all the time. A devoted parent doesn't whip his kid until a shirt can't hide all the bruises!"
Chapter 8 is when Cole made his move of killing the spirit bear. Instead of killing it, Cole almost got killed by the spirit bear. The book describes how bad the pain is. Cole Matthews had most of his bones broken with nobody to help him after the attack. He realizes that the bear was protecting himself instead of just doing it because the bear is just an animal. Cole also realizes the bear wasn't afraid of him like everything else. It is a huge part of the book.
In the first chapter of Touching Spirit Bear it describes the life of the boy and what he did to deserve being sentenced to the island that has the Spirit Bear.
Cole tries to kill the spirit bear
If I remember that chapter right, I do believe Cole's dad would physically abuse Cole.
Peter Driscal had a point of frustration when both the family's are at circle justice, when he holds the feather and talks about what he want happening to Cole. he says," i wish that Cole get shipped off to an island and get what he did to my in a harder way." it is like in chapter 6 of the book.
i think he was in the dention centre for 6 months
In the novel, Touching Spirit Bear, PeterÕs lawyer insisted that any solution found by the circle had to challenge society, and had to find a way to hold Cole completely responsible for his own actions. The book was written by Ben Mikaelsen, and published in 2001.
