Two major differences are that emperor penguins are larger and stay in Antarctica all year. King penguins are the second largest penguin, but not quite as large as an emperor and they do not stay in Antarctica.

There are many species of penguins, and they differ from each other in size and colouring.

Did you know that the word Penguin comes from the Welsh?

There used to be a Great Auk in the North Atlantic, and this was known in Welsh as "white faced bird".

So when penguins were discovered (but no relation to the Auk) the old name was attached to them.

No they are slightly different because Emperor penguins are slightly bigger and the King penguins are, well... smaller but only slightly and better ! The chicks of the two animals look different but when they are adults the colouring and patterns around the neck and shoulders are a bit different...

So there you go !

Penguins are birds and they cannot fly. The one cool thing about penguins are that they can swim in cold water and they eat fish and not worms like other birds. Every bird has a special quality or something that is "cool" about them. And penguins cannot fly but they swim. Penguins are aqua-dynamic, not aero-dynamic, like most other birds.
